The AC symptoms we hear most
- Air is blowing but it feels lukewarm Low refrigerant charge from a leak, a dirty condenser coil, or a compressor not pumping
- The outdoor unit hums and then goes quiet Failed run capacitor, seized condenser fan motor, or a contactor that will not hold
- The house cools by morning and loses ground by afternoon Undersized return air, restricted airflow, or a system running short on capacity as outdoor temperature climbs
- The breaker keeps tripping when the AC starts Hard-starting compressor, shorted wiring, or an overloaded motor drawing high amps
- Ice on the copper line or the indoor coil Airflow restriction from a loaded filter or blower problem, or low refrigerant charge

Safe things to check first
Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.
- 1Check the thermostat: fresh batteries, set to cool, and the setpoint several degrees below the room temperature.
- 2Look at the electrical panel for a tripped breaker on the AC circuit and reset it once. If it trips again, stop and call us.
- 3Pull the filter and hold it to the light. If you cannot see through it, replace it with the same size.
- 4Walk the outdoor unit and clear leaves, cuttings and stored items, and confirm the supply vents and returns inside are open and unblocked.

How soon can you get out for an emergency AC repair?
Tell us the symptom when you call and we will give you the soonest window we honestly have. Same-day is often possible. If someone in the home is elderly, very young or medically fragile, say so and we will move you up the list.
My AC is not cooling at all. Is that a big repair?
Not always. A failed capacitor or a bad contactor stops cooling completely and is a straightforward part replacement. A leaking coil or a dead compressor is a larger job. We diagnose before quoting, so you are not guessing at the cost.
Can you just add refrigerant to fix low cooling?
Refrigerant does not get used up, so if the charge is low there is a leak. We locate it, show you where it is, and repair or replace the failed component before charging the system. Topping off without a repair means you call again next season.
How do I know if the problem is the compressor?
A compressor that will not start often hums, trips the breaker, or runs hot and shuts off on internal overload. We test the electrical parts first, because a bad capacitor or hard-start component mimics compressor failure and costs far less to fix.
Is it worth repairing an older air conditioner?
We look at what failed, the condition of the coil and compressor, and the refrigerant type. A capacitor or fan motor on an otherwise sound system is worth fixing. Repeat failures on a system with a leaking coil usually point toward replacement.
Why does my system ice up in the middle of a hot day?
Ice means the coil is getting colder than it should, usually from restricted airflow or low refrigerant. Turn the system to fan only to let it thaw, replace a dirty filter, and call us. Running it iced up strains the compressor.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptom
Call or fill in the quote form with what you notice. Warm air, no air, short cycling, a smell, a noise. Details like when it started help us bring the right parts on the first visit.
- Step 2
We diagnose on site
A technician checks the thermostat, the electrical side, refrigerant performance, airflow and the return sizing. We test rather than guess, then explain what failed and why in plain language before any work starts.
- Step 3
Repair and verify
We make the repair, then measure temperatures and airflow at the vents to confirm the system holds. If a duct or return is starving the equipment, we tell you what it would take to fix it.

Why homeowners call us
- We know stucco tract homesMuch of the housing we service was built fast with returns too small for the tonnage installed. That single duct in the hallway explains a lot of weak airflow complaints, and we look at it before we sell you equipment.
- Marine mornings, inland afternoonsCoastal condos fight humidity and salt air, while inland homes run long afternoon cycles in triple digits. Same system, different failure patterns. We set expectations for the climate your house actually sits in.
- Diagnosis you can followYou get told which part failed, what it does and what happens if it waits. No hurry, no scare talk. If the honest answer is that the system has a few seasons left, we say that.
- Repair before replacementMost calls end in a repair, not a new system. We quote replacement only when a repair will not hold or the cost stops making sense, and we explain the reasoning either way.
- All major brands, gas & electricFrom Carrier and Trane to Lennox, Goodman, Rheem and Bryant, serviced independently.
- Straight answersWhen a replacement beats a repair, we tell you, sometimes before we roll a truck.
