Top-rated independent heating and cooling across Orange County and Southern California

Ductless Mini-Split Installation

We install ductless mini-split systems in homes across Arizona, California and Nevada, for rooms that never get comfortable and for spaces with no ductwork at all. Converted garages, additions, upstairs bedrooms over a hot roof, and condos where running duct is not realistic. A mini-split pairs an outdoor unit with one or more wall or ceiling heads, and it heats as well as cools. Call us and we will look at the room, the wall, and your electrical panel before we quote anything.

What the installation actually involves

A mini-split install is mostly careful placement. We set the indoor head where air can reach the whole room without blowing straight at a bed or a sofa, then core a small penetration through the wall for the refrigerant lines, drain and control wiring. The outdoor unit goes on a pad or wall bracket with clearance for airflow and service. We run the line set, protect it in a cover on exposed walls, pull a vacuum, charge the system and test heating and cooling before we leave.

What we check and install

We start with a load calculation for the room, not a guess, because an oversized head short cycles and leaves the space clammy. We check the electrical panel for capacity and confirm the dedicated circuit and disconnect. We look at wall construction, stucco versus siding, and where the condensate can drain by gravity or whether a small pump is needed. We confirm the head location clears windows, closets and light fixtures. Then we set the system, commission it, and walk you through the remote and the modes.

How we decide a ductless system is the right call

Ductless makes sense when there is no duct to the space, when the existing duct is undersized and cannot be enlarged, or when one room runs far hotter or colder than the rest of the house. Additions, garage conversions, sunrooms and condos are common candidates. If your ducted system is sound and the problem is a return that is too small or a blocked branch, we will say so and fix that instead. We would rather tell you a mini-split is the wrong tool than sell you one.

Ductless Mini-Split Installation — quick answers

Can one outdoor unit run several rooms?

Yes. A multi-zone outdoor unit can serve several indoor heads, each with its own control. We size the outdoor unit to the combined load and check that the line runs stay within the manufacturer limits for the layout.

Does a mini-split provide heat too?

Most do. They run as heat pumps, so the same system handles cooling in summer and heating on cold mornings. That makes them a practical option for a room with no duct and no other heat source.

How visible is the equipment inside?

The indoor head is a wall or ceiling cassette, usually white, mounted high on the wall. Outside, we route the line set in a paintable cover so it follows the wall cleanly rather than hanging loose.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form with what you notice. Warm air, no air, short cycling, a smell, a noise. Details like when it started help us bring the right parts on the first visit.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, the electrical side, refrigerant performance, airflow and the return sizing. We test rather than guess, then explain what failed and why in plain language before any work starts.

  3. Step 3

    Repair and verify

We make the repair, then measure temperatures and airflow at the vents to confirm the system holds. If a duct or return is starving the equipment, we tell you what it would take to fix it.

Why homeowners call us

  • We know stucco tract homesMuch of the housing we service was built fast with returns too small for the tonnage installed. That single duct in the hallway explains a lot of weak airflow complaints, and we look at it before we sell you equipment.
  • Marine mornings, inland afternoonsCoastal condos fight humidity and salt air, while inland homes run long afternoon cycles in triple digits. Same system, different failure patterns. We set expectations for the climate your house actually sits in.
  • Diagnosis you can followYou get told which part failed, what it does and what happens if it waits. No hurry, no scare talk. If the honest answer is that the system has a few seasons left, we say that.
  • Repair before replacementMost calls end in a repair, not a new system. We quote replacement only when a repair will not hold or the cost stops making sense, and we explain the reasoning either way.
  • All major brands, gas & electricFrom Carrier and Trane to Lennox, Goodman, Rheem and Bryant, serviced independently.
  • Straight answersWhen a replacement beats a repair, we tell you, sometimes before we roll a truck.
